Beavis and Butthead Reviewed by Lucy Trotter

I am reviewing Beavis and Butthead as people. They are both very simple but at the same time they are the way they are for a reason and I’ve been carefully analyzing their personalities and traits.

I’ve always loved the show but more recently I’ve started recognizing them everywhere and in everything… This summer my best friend Lily and I were walking back from a local playground near her house as it started thundering, we noticed dark clouds. We had both straightened our hair that day and knew we had to get back quick, defeating the rain. I say “This like really sucks” little did I know after saying this I would see everyone in a completely different light. Lily repeats what I said back to me, only impersonating Butthead as she does. Mind blown.

For the rest of that summer up until today we repeat the stupid things the other might say in the voices of Beavis and Butthead. This is when I started seeing them in everyone.

Beavis and Butthead are animated characters from the show “Beavis and Butthead” created by Mike Judge and first airing in 1993 on MTV. From the first season they’ve been the epitome of dumb. Absolute menaces to society as a whole, even thought by parents to negatively affect real kids back in the day. In the show they react to music videos and in the new seasons, youtube videos. They always share commentary on them too, expressing opinions making you understand them further.

Beavis and Butthead get into fake situations that make you think, wow these guys are idiots and nobody would be that dumb. However the more you watch the show and hang around teenage boys, you realize they are based on a true story. The true story being the story of life and everyone around you. Jesus Christ there are so many actual copies of them and you are never safe. Are teenagers the watered down version of Beavis and his best friend Butthead? Absolutely they are.

Now we all know the two are horrible rude people who are probably heartless, well Butthead at least. But have you ever wondered why they are the way they are, what causes them to be this way? I believe one issue cannot cause one to act so insane so I have multiple suspicions. First off I believe they both have fetal alcohol syndrome, fetal alcohol syndrome causes low IQ and trouble learning new information. You know what else fetal alcohol syndrome causes? BIG HEADS! Have you ever noticed everyone else in the show having normal sized and proportional heads, must I explain further? There’s absolutely no way that Butthead isn’t an undiagnosed sociopath or narcissist, I am leaning towards sociopath. Some symptoms of being a sociopath include no empathy for others, low impulse control, and frequent violence towards others. Check, check, and check. Beavis on the other hand while still being terrible, does actually care for a few things rather than himself. Especially Butthead, he always agrees with him, no matter how idiotic he sounds, always follows him around, and overall completely relies on him in a way. In an episode he meets a man wanting to befriend him and Beavis has no interest and can only think about Butthead. Both of their parents aren’t really present so I believe this is why they cling together all day everyday. Overall they are each other’s platonic soulmates, Bonded together with love and more importantly hate.

In the end I rate Beavis, a 3 out of 5. Though he’s a horrible person, without Butthead he’d be a hardworking caring citizen, proven by the ghost of Christmas past episode where Butthead is shown what Beavis’s life would look like without him. He is a very poor influence. And finally Butthead I give him a 1 out of 5 stars. He like really sucks.
