The Butterfly Effect by Dulce Martinez

The butterfly effect is more than a time travel technique that is talked about in a movie where they go back in time, change something and then it alternates the future . The Butterfly effect also known as the chaos theory has a deeper meaning depending on one’s perspective.

The butterfly effect is the idea that a small event/ occurrence can and will result in something with larger consequences.

The saying that ‘the smallest thing such as  a butterfly flapping its wings can create a series of events that lead to a catastrophe’ has a deeper explanation.

The saying implies every and any choice you make can have changes/impacts in the course of your life.

Some people believe that one’s fate is already written and no matter what you do, or  the choices you make won’t alter your future. Meaning they believe that everything happens for a reason, An event that was destined to happen and change your future,

The butterfly effect focuses a lot on fate and destiny depending on your perspective; in my case fate and destiny weren’t what the butterfly effect meant to me, until  I had someone else explain their perspective and it changed the way I see things. We were talking about  how different our views were and why? The topic of Fate and destiny came up,which then led to the butterfly effect.  My conclusion was that a small decision can change something huge. Therefore I didn’t believe in fate and destiny.

The butterfly effect always had me thinking about the “what ifs”. I was always stuck in the past wondering “what if i had done this instead…” or what i could have done differently, till they said this “ (What if’s) dont exist” i then responded  “what do you mean?, yes they do.  think about it” then they said “ You could think and be focused on the what ifs but the choice was already made all the what ifs are gone you can’t change the past.

The butterfly effect means to me that the decisions I make will have consequences, good or bad. The choices I make will always change the outcome, but I was destined to make those choices because there is no other option after the decision is made and the only thing to do after that is to move on, and make new decisions that will lead to a different outcome every time.
