The Development of Human Connection – Dominic Utley

Human connection is imperative and essential to understand how to interact with the world. We develop connections with those around us as soon as we can perceive the world: our parents feed us, warm us and protect us. We base our interactions with the world on the first interaction with our parents. We continue to develop these social skills further with siblings or peers in preschool. The kids develop social outreach and compromises with other peers or siblings as they learn cooperative play. The kids then develop social skills leaning more towards non-family members as they continue to learn social habits and skills of their community. The child now is at a crucial point of adolescence,as the outside world molds the kid as well as their parents. The child now stepping into adolescence continues to grow as they take on an outside persona stemming from their interests or their need for self-actualization. This will supersede their social skills and outreach if they let it consume them.
