(Valley Memory Capsule 23-24) Thomas Killillay

Waddup future me, the project you are currently reading is a project where I, among other students in my class, have a post dedicated to reflecting on our past and our current life’s, that way in the future we can look back and look at the memories, as well as see if we ended up where we thought we were going to be in the future.

I only joined this class because Caleb was leaving. He was originally in charge of the technical side of things, and when he was in the class he would always talk about it and talk about how fun it was. To be honest I really only joined the class because I wanted to do computer things again, however joining this class was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Not only have I been able to work on the things I wanted to, but it’s also helped me develop the ability to think on my own about designing things, as well as overall personal development.

The first part of this project is a reflection of my past self. A picture of myself from my childhood. The photo I choose below is the one I selected for this portion of the project. I didn’t really choose it for any specific reason, other than the fact that I unintentionally matched my prom outfit with it.

The next portion is a photo of my current self. I choose the photo below for a few reasons. Firstly because it’s one of my most recent ones. Also because it’s one of my better photos I have.

The next section of the project, is memories from elementary school, middle school, highschool, and Valley.

For elementary school, I don’t remember all that much. So the only memory that I can put here is the fact in 4th grade, my entire class was forced to join the band program and choose an instrument. I choose the electric guitar, and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I know back then I sounded extremely terrible, but through the support of my family and friends, I never gave it up. To this day, I still play guitar and *in my personal opinion* I’m pretty alright. I’ve included one of my recent videos of me playing below.

As far as my middle school memory, I have a lot to choose from. Unfortunately, this was my “villain era” as one could say, and I’m not very proud of them. I had a whole group of friends, and we would just do the stupidest, most middle school boy things ever. For example, we would sing happy birthday to my hall monitor every single day except the day of her birthday. Like I said, not verry proud of it but at the time I thought it was funny.

For high school, I don’t have that much. I didn’t go to my first 2 years of high school, mainly because I didn’t want to do online school nor did I want to go in person and I somehow managed to get away with it. I would just be in my room every day playing videogames and playing guitar. So there isn’t all that much for me to talk about for high school memories.

Lastly, Valley High School. Where do I start? Valley High is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life. Valley has taught me how to focus on myself, show pride in what I do, and show that I can do things that I want to do. Valley has given me friends and memories that I will forever cherish and they will be the memories and people I tell my future children about.

Now that memory lane is finished, let’s focus on the present. I am very proud of where I am at currently, and where I am heading in the future. I am currently an Assistant Shop Manager at Take 5 Oil Change, I own a cool car and a motorcycle, and I’m living life the way I want to live it. I will be going to collage this year at Utah Valley University, majoring in Aviation Science, with the plan to become an Airline Pilot.

For the last part of this project, it’s a valuable life lesson that I think is worth sharing. The biggest life lesson I’ve learned is to fully accept who you are. Don’t change yourself for anyone else, don’t let anyone tell you how to live your life. Do what you want to do. Don’t allow yourself to fall victim to the unreasonable expectations of society. Everyone lives in their own world, so live in your world the way you want to live in it. That’s the biggest thing I can say.
