From Sags to Stitches (by Kyer Collard)

Teigen Stroud, a student of Valley High School likes to sew designs on pants, hoodies,
sweatshirts, and even shirts. Some examples of these designs will be below with the pictures and questions I’m asking.

Do you find sewing pants fun, or do you think its boring/not appealing? “I think it’s really fun, at times it can just be tedious.”

How much time does it take you to do a design on a pair of pants or a pair of pants? “It really just depends on the design and how intricate the sewing is, sometimes it takes up to an hour to sew a design on and sometimes it takes 15-30 minutes for a short project.”

What kind of products do you use to make these sewn pants? “I use the Stinger M1150 sewing machine, And I use pretty much any fabric that looks good and works well with the material I’m putting it on.”

What’s your most favorite design/pattern to put on pants? “I like to draw starts on a material then sew that material onto the clothing.”

How did you get started on sewing? “My mom taught me how to sew, but I’ve seen other people design clothes and honestly I just did what I liked on top of the clothes from their inspirations.”
