Snowboarders on the mountain need to stop claiming that they are so good and acting above it when really all of them are average. When it comes to snowboarding, there are many different skill levels. If you claim to be “good,” you should be an actually above average rider. From my experience, I have been riding snowboards for 9 years and am a truly above average rider.
These riders put on a front for social media, girls, and their friends which is rude to people who have pushed limits and boundaries to say that we are good. Ever since I was a young kid, my uncles and friends have told experiences about them nearly dying. Once I watched my uncle fall in a tree well off the side of the lift, we could not find him for over two hours then his skis were lost in the snow.
Later on me and my friends started to learn heavier tricks and they were performing at an advanced skill level. This year my friends and I have landed 7’s, wildcats, Tame Dogs, (Ryder did a 10!!), backflips, rodeos, corks, methods, and so many more amazing tricks. We still get put down by less skilled riders because they are ego driven. People like to act above it all and it makes you want to whack them with your board. When riders act above it, they will make it out as if you are the problem.
A lot of people will come to the mountain and know they have slight power so they use it to rage bait people like spraying them with snow, or taking gear, stealing food, jumping off the lift. Yes, some of it is fun, but some people do not understand that there is a time and a place to do those kind of fun things. They belong in the park and if you’re going to spray people, do it with friends or friendly sprays with level people. Snowboarders need to learn more respect.
