“Like the sun, both fierce and bright,” by Colby Smith

Like the sun, both fierce and bright,

I gaze at you until I lose my sight,

Fading as the day into night,

Yet in your arms, I find my light.

For love, though blind you give me sight,

I hold you near, in you I find the strength to conquer fear. Unskilled in life I stumble through, But in your heart I find what’s true.

Though I lack the skill to get things right.

My love for its blind, I love you still, for you love is what gives me sight. You who give my hearts its will. I fear the day when your lungs go still. Like a mother’s love it has no yield.
