Band Review by Envy Ray: Cutie

The musician/band I’ve chosen to do is a relatively new band called “Cutie”; the very first EP was released May 26th 2023. He started writing the first EP in November 2022, and was finished at the beginning of May. Most of the writing took place in March and April.

They have played six shows. His friends he met while he was in music school at UVU, and from the local music scene. They help him play these shows and have their next show January 2, 2025.

I asked them about some of their struggles and he explained just finding the time to write and play was difficult. He hopes to get to a point where he can release songs every month next year. All while having a full time job and trying to engage in having a social life are the struggles.

He told me the most recent release is a single called Butterflies that came out last month on the 20th of November.he said he got inspiration from “The marias” for his Song Butterflies specifically from “no one noticed” and “Heavy” were his main inspirations for Butterflies.

The composition for the Song “Butterflies” starts with a loopy sound that continues through the song, and then the vocals that give it that dreamy feeling. As well as having electric guitar notes in it that add to the vibe, they are putting out that makes it feel very ethereal and relaxing. while having this amazing composition. This band is probably one of the most unique bands

I’ve listened to in quite awhile, and performance-wise i think he’s quite outstanding at what he does.
